Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel, riad, airport, or railway station in Fes. Travel south through the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains, where the landscapes quickly change from urban scenery to forests, hills, and mountain villages.

The first stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its clean streets, alpine-style buildings, and peaceful atmosphere. Continue to Azrou, a Berber town known for its cedar wood craftsmanship and nearby cedar forests. Here, you may stop to see the famous Barbary macaque monkeys living among the trees.

After crossing the mountain roads and the Zad Pass, continue to Midelt for a lunch break. In the afternoon, travel through Errachidia and admire the spectacular scenery of the Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s most impressive oasis landscapes, filled with palm groves, traditional villages, and panoramic viewpoints.

The route then continues to Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and date production, before reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Pass through Kelaat M’Gouna, famous for its roses and rose-based products, then continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and through the palm groves of Skoura.

By evening, arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Morocco because of its film studios and cinematic landscapes. Depending on timing, enjoy a visit to the town before checking into your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin the final day of your desert tour with a visit to Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most famous fortified villages in Morocco.
