Early in the morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel, riad, or airport in Ouarzazate. Begin your journey east through the scenic landscapes of southern Morocco toward Todra Gorge, one of the most dramatic natural sites in the country.

The Todra Valley road follows the course of the Todra River, which has carved an impressive red-walled canyon through the mountains over thousands of years. Feel free to stop, walk through the gorge, and admire the scale of this breathtaking natural landscape. This is one of the most photogenic stops on the route.

After the gorge, continue through the palm groves of Tinjdad and along desert roads toward Merzouga. There will be free time for lunch along the way.

In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Leave your vehicle behind and switch to camels for a ride across the soft golden sands of Erg Chebbi. As the sun begins to lower toward the horizon, stop on top of a high dune to admire the magical desert sunset, one of the most unforgettable moments of the journey.

Continue on camelback to your luxury desert camp, where the evening comes to life with the sound of Berber drums, dancing around the campfire, and traditional desert hospitality. After breakfast, dedicate the entire day to exploring the fascinating region around Erg Chebbi in a private 4x4 vehicle. This immersive desert excursion reveals the many different faces of the Merzouga area, from ancient mines and oasis landscapes to living nomadic culture and unique natural attractions.

Begin with an off-road drive to an old kohl mine, a fascinating and rarely visited corner of the desert region. Continue to visit nomadic families living in traditional woven tents, where you can sit, share a glass of Berber tea, and learn about their remarkable way of life in the desert.

Continue to Khamlia, a unique village whose community has roots in Mali, Sudan, and Niger, and is known for its vibrant Gnawa music. Here, enjoy a live performance of traditional music and dance that has been preserved for generations.

Enjoy free time for lunch in a local restaurant before the afternoon excursion continues. Stroll through a beautiful palm grove and then drive to the seasonal lake of Merzouga, also known as the flamingo lake, where migrating birds sometimes appear in the water and the scenery creates a striking contrast with the surrounding desert.

As the afternoon moves into evening, switch once again to camels for a second sunset ride across the dunes. Arrive at your luxury desert camp for another dinner, another campfire, and another magical night in the Sahara.

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise in the heart of the Sahara, a peaceful and unforgettable moment that begins your final day on a high note. After breakfast, meet your driver and begin the long but scenic drive west toward Marrakech.

Travel through the desert landscapes of southern Morocco with scenic stops and café breaks along the way. Pass through Ouarzazate, where you will have free time for lunch and a chance to see the famous Hollywood of Africa atmosphere.

After lunch, continue toward Marrakech via the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Morocco. This extraordinary fortified village sits along the old Saharan caravan route and has appeared in major film productions including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and the television series Game of Thrones. Take time to explore the ksar and admire its ancient earthen architecture.

Continue north and cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic mountain views and scenic stops before descending toward Marrakech. Arrive in the city by late evening and transfer to your accommodation or the airport, marking the end of your 3-day desert tour from Ouarzazate to Marrakech.

If the 9-hour drive back to Marrakech feels too long, the tour can alternatively end at Errachidia Airport, located only 2 hours from Merzouga. From there, a one-hour flight connects to Marrakech. This option is available through Ryanair, operating approximately 3 times per week. The flight ticket is not included in the tour price.
